Toothpaste is the best kept secret! Permanent Markers Goodbye!

Posted under Bathroom, Bedrooms, Cleaning Tips, Kitchen, Laundry Room, Living Rooms by admin on October 11th, 2008 11:55 am

I have a wonderful 4 year old who loves to draw and she used to draw on everything with anything.  Permanent marker was her favorite, cause she knew we tried  hard to keep them away from her.   Unfortunately though, we always seem to be careless cause she always got a hold of them.  I’ve had it on the walls, on a white painted desk, etc.

Since my two youngest are only a year apart they always followed eachother.  So my now 3 year old get ahold of markers and does the same.  Well I just moved in with my boyfriend, and she decided to scrub the glass bathroom door, and then the LCD TV with green permanent marker, and black.

Guess what? I was prepared!! Can you believe that toothpaste on a washcloth works?! scrub it gently and it comes right off.  Computer screens, TV Screens, etc!!

Always try a little place first to make sure it doesn’t ruin the object.  I have never had it ruin anything though.

Try it at your own risk!

Sluggish Drains?

I do this all the time, even when the drains aren’t sluggish.. I just love to do it. lol If you take a 1/2 cup of baking soda and sprinkle it down the drain.. then take a 1/2 cup of vinegar and throw that down the drain. You’ll see it bubble and all that. I love to watch and listen to it. Then after about 10 minutes, you take a kettle of 6 cups of hot water and dump it down the drain. This will get rid of any buildup or residue that will cause your drain to drain sluggishly.

I’m telling you, I do this ALL the time. I love the chemical reaction that baking soda and white vinegar make together. It’s like I have to do it whenever given the opportunity. lol

Mildew or Mold in Washing Machine

Did you leave your clothes a little too long in the washer machine? Do you smell a funky smell when you lift up the cover to the washing machine?  Here’s what you will need to do.

Take a cup of baking soda and throw it in there with your laundry detergent and put your wash on again.  When it stops it should be smelling fresh but the problem isn’t solved yet.  Take the clothes out and bleach out your empty machine.  Use 1 cup and turn on the machine, once the washer is filled up turn it off and let the bleach soak for 1-2 hours.  I usually let it soak longer.  After you turn the machine on let it go through it’s cycle.  I usually will do white clothes at that point with bleach, or I will just let it go through one more cycle with just water to make sure all that bleach is gone.  You don’t want to ruin your clothes.
